Congrats to Davis Esslinger (Class of 2020), who has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. Esslinger will play for the Leopards, who compete in the Patriot League of the NCAA's Division I. He plans to major in International Affairs.
Esslinger's long-time tennis coach, Noel Wadawu of Universal Tennis Academy, says of his player: "Every player I have taught has their own journey and story. Davis Esslinger's is one of my favorites to date! To sign to play Division 1 tennis is truly a dream come true for this young man. After all the lessons life has thrown at him, he has been able to come through on the other side as a better person and better player. No one deserves this more than Davis Esslinger and I can't wait to follow his story in college."
Esslinger played for two years on the Riverwood Varsity Tennis team before transitioning to dedicated training at Universal Tennis Academy. Off the court, he is a member of Riverwood's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Beta Club, Spanish National Honor Society and he serves as a tutor in the Riverwood Writing Center. He is a founding member of the Riverwood Fishing Club. Esslinger participated in Youth Leadership Sandy Springs and worked as a counselor and tennis coach for local youth. He is also an acolyte at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church. Davis is the son of Anne-Marie and Greg Esslinger of Sandy Springs.
